National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman said yesterday that he is fully prepared to exercise all his rights as a Bangladeshi citizen.
He made this statement in response to a claim recently made by BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, who alleged that Khalilur holds foreign citizenship.
Khalilur emphasized that the responsibility to prove such a claim lies with the person making it and, if needed, the matter should be settled in a court of law.
Salahuddin, a BNP Standing Committee member, made the allegation during a rally in Khulna on Saturday.
He questioned how the Bangladesh Army could submit security-related reports to a foreign citizen and accused the adviser of trying to turn Bangladesh into a battlefield under the pretext of creating a humanitarian corridor for the Rohingyas, demanding his removal.
