Pakistan Rejects Modi’s Terrorism Allegations Amid Rising Tensions

Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday strongly rejected what it described as “baseless, provocative, and irresponsible allegations” made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who accused Pakistan of orchestrating terrorist attacks within India during a recent fiery speech.

The diplomatic confrontation between New Delhi and Islamabad escalates amid growing tensions following last month's deadly attack in Pahalgam.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Pakistan’s FO stated: “Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless, provocative, and irresponsible allegations made by the Indian Prime Minister.”

The Indian premier also made a controversial remark on Thursday, declaring that Pakistan would not receive water from rivers over which India holds rights, according to a report by Dawn.

Meanwhile, both countries have extended the closure of their airspace to each other’s airlines by another month. The new restriction will remain in effect until 5:29 AM on June 24, 2025. The previous Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by Pakistan was due to expire on May 24, reports The Times of India (TOI).

Due to the airspace restrictions, Indian airlines operating from northern regions, particularly Delhi, are being forced to take longer flight routes to and from the West, increasing travel time and costs.

The continued exchange of sharp rhetoric and actions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors has raised fresh concerns in the region over stability and diplomatic ties.
