Elon Musk Says He Will Cut Back on Political Spending
Billionaire Elon Musk announced Tuesday that he will significantly reduce his political spending, stating that his electric car company Tesla continues to perform well despite criticism over his support for U.S. President Donald Trump.
“In terms of political spending, I’m going to do a lot less in the future,” Musk said during a video interview with Bloomberg at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, speaking from Austin, Texas.
“If I see a reason to do political spending in the future, I will do it. I don’t currently see a reason,” he added during the often tense conversation.
Musk’s remarks are likely to spark speculation about a potential shift in his close relationship with Trump, especially as he distances himself from active political involvement. Previously seen as a key financial and strategic ally to the former president, Musk now appears to be stepping away from that role.
“When it comes to politics, I did what needed to be done,” Musk stated, signaling a more hands-off approach going forward.
